Classes for Children

Mini: 

Ages 2 -3.5

Our Mini classes are specifically designed for our littlest dancers to start exploring the basics of dance through beginner ballet and creative movement. This class will introduce students to dance class structure and encourage positivity, playfulness, and love of movement and music. Dancers will not only learn about the basic foundations of dance, but will also be introduced to important classroom behavior such as listening, taking turns, and teamwork! Dancers will perform 1 dance at our recital.

Preschool

Preschool 1 (age 3)
Preschool 2 (age 4)

Our preschool combo classes start dancers ages 3-4 off with a combination of ballet and tap. This class will build on what students learn in “Mini” while incorporating a little more structure to the classroom. Dancers will continue to explore beginner ballet and will be introduced to tap dancing. Preschool classes will combine play, exploration of movement, and an introduction to tap and ballet technique for an exciting foundational class. Dancers will perform 2 dances at recital. Preschool dancers must be fully potty trained. Dancers that are not fully potty trained are welcome to join our mini class.

Level 1 Combo: 
Tap/Ballet
Kindergarten - First Grade

The Kinder & First Grade Tap/Ballet combo class starts our kindergarten and first grade dancers off with a combination of tap and ballet. This class will build on what students learn in “Preschool” while incorporating more structure to the classroom. Dancers will continue to explore beginner ballet and tap steps, while advancing their skills and starting to learn more across the floor and center work. Dancers will perform 2 dances at recital. (ballet & tap)

Ballet:
Second Grade and up

Ballet is offered as an individual class option for students beginning in second grade. In class, students will learn this important and traditional style through technique, strength, elegance, and flexibility. Classes include barre, center work, and across the floor exercises. At Revive, we believe in the importance of ballet as a base for our student’s technique and training. Therefore, we highly recommend all Revive Dancers to take ballet with the classes of their choice!

Tap:
Second Grade and up

Tap classes are offered as an individual class option for students begininng in second grade. Tap is a high energy dance form which highlights footwork, rhythm, and isolation. We educate our students in the musicality and rhythm of tap dancing through technical exercises, center work, and across the floor combinations

Acro:
Kindergarten and up

Acro classes are offered for students beginning in Kindergarten with Intro to Acro. Acro is a fusion of dance and acrobatics. At Revive, we follow the Acrobatic Arts Curriculum and believe in the importance of safety in our students. Therefore, we strive to encourage each student to progress at their own pace and offer different levels of classes. Classes will include strength training, flexibility, tumbling, balancing, limbering, and more acrobatic dance instruction. All classes will be taught using mats and with an instructor who is professionally trained to spot the students. We keep our acro classes at a smaller capacity for safety, so dancers are always being spotted, and to allow more one-on-one instruction.

Jazz:

Kindergarten and up

Jazz classes are offered for students beginning in Kindergarten with Intro to Jazz. Our jazz classes draw upon the technique dancers learn in ballet and encourage expressiveness of movement. Classes include isolations, center work, across the floor exercises, and trains dancers in musicality, flexibility, and expression. Jazz students are highly encouraged to also take ballet.

Musical Theater:

First Grade and up

Musical Theater classes are offered for students age 6 and up. This jazz-based class incorporates dance movement and acting to tell a theatrical story. Students will learn about performing expressively in both their dancing and acting as they explore different ways to use their energy and facial expressions. Often performed to Broadway style music, this class will include jazz technique, acting exercises, and theatrical routines.

Hip-Hop:

Kindergarten and up

Hip Hop classes are offered for students beginning in Kindergarten. Hip Hop is danced to Hip Hop style music and encompasses high energy movement focusing on rhythm and expression. Classes include a combination of high energy exercises involving isolations, center work, footwork, and across the floor.

Lyrical/Contemporary:

Second Grade and up

Lyrical/Contemporary classes are offered for students in second grade and up. Lyrical and contemporary dance styles draw from a variety of techniques such as ballet, jazz, and modern to create both a technical and self-expressive style. Our classes will focus on expression and incorporate a wide variety of movements and techniques to educate students in this artistic dance form. Lyrical/contemporary students are required to also take ballet.

Modern:

Fourth Grade and up

Modern class is offered for students in fourth grade and up. Modern dance has a rich history that developed from the desire to push the boundaries of classical ballet technique. Beginning in the early 20th century, modern dance focuses on exploring new forms of movement and revolutionizing an old art form. In modern, dancers will learn about balance, suspension, and the classical “shapes” of this exciting dance style using the entire body. Dancers will be introduced to the style of Graham, Horton, Taylor, Duncan, and many more historic modern dance influencers. Modern students are also encouraged to take ballet.
